Gabrielle Sargent is a Maltese soprano and recent Royal Northern College of Music scholarship graduate. She studies under the tutelage of Linda Richardson. During her time at college she was a finalist in the Williams-Howard Award competition, was selected by Opera North to take part in the Opera North Chorus Mentor Scheme. She graduated from the Edinburgh Napier University with a First Class Honours in Music and was awarded the University Medal.
Gabrielle made her opera debut in 2016 as Papagena in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. She has since performed solo roles as Nannetta Falstaff, La Comtesse Cherubin, Elisetta Il Matrimonio Segreto, Despina Cosi Fan Tutte, Béatrice Béatrice et Bénédict, Belinda Dido and Aeneas and Fairy Spirit Cendrillon. Chorus work includes Eugene Onegin, L'Elisir d'Amore, La Clemenza di Tito and Aleko.
Recent selected performance highlights include singing alongside internationally renowned tenor Joseph Calleja in concert, premiering ‘for Notre-Dame du Haut’ by tree burton in Ronchamp, France, and joining the Chorus for a production of Madama Butterfly at the Bridgewater Hall with Sir Mark Elder. She was chosen as a Clonter Opera Emerging Artist where she took part in the Masterclasses and Spring Opera Showcase and thoroughly enjoyed singing with the York Guildhall Orchestra in concert with conductor Simon Wright.
Gabrielle is passionate about bringing music to a wider audience and has been performing recitals in community settings with Opera Holland Park as part of Inspire. She will also be joining Grange Park’s Primary Robins across schools in Manchester.
